PURE WRESTLING GRAND PRIX
CHAPTER ONE
NIGHT THREE
MARCH 2024
BOSTON, MA
NAWL owner Frank James came out to commence the show, promising a great final event of this series. He announced that Chapter Two details will be formally released in the coming days, where the Internet and Pure Titles will be defended. The theme for that event will be celebrating the legends of this industry, giving something back to those that paved the way for this generation of superstars.
OPENING BOUT
PURE TITLE SEMI-FINAL 1
Tapp Addams v Lily Blaise
The opening match did not disappoint as these two went straight at it. Addams made quick use of his large repertoire, eager to dispose of and out-do the younger Blaise. Initially she looked to be potentially out of her depth at this late stage of the competition but bided her time and took her opportunities when they came, forcing Tapp into rope breaks with a Seated Octopus Stretch and Step Over Crossface. The match was almost lost when he locked on his Good Intentions (Wrist Clutch Straightjacket Backstabber) but Lily made it to the ropes just in time. The match wore on and neither could get this one over the line as the crowd counted down with the timer to enforce the judges decision. Addams seemed confident he had done enough to win, while Lily played it cool, looking self-assured but not willing to acknowledge any form of victory until the call was made. After a long, long deliberation the decision was passed onto the official who raised Blaise's hand in the air. Overjoyed she climbed the turnbuckle to celebrate, while Addams was left shaking his head. The judges had ruled in his favour against Archie Collins in the Quarter Finals, but on this occasion his luck ran dry, as the multiple rope breaks - presumably - enforced by Blaise throughout the match had no doubt swayed their decision.
Winner: Lily Blaise (by judges decision)
PURE TITLE SEMI-FINAL 2
Jack McGrath v Silas Romero
An inevitable rematch was always on the cards for these two at some point following their remarkable encounter back in December. On that occasion Jack McGrath came out on top but since then they’ve trod very different paths, albeit never straying too far from one another’s footsteps. Now they renew their rivalry under a different banner, some four months after the infamous brawl on Flight 8529, en route to their own match up. This needed no introduction. No hype, or explanation of why this was every bit the epic encounter professional wrestling fans paid good money to be in attendance for. In another world these might respect one another. Hell they might even be allies. But in this world they are two grappling gods that stand in each other’s way for glory. If Five Lakes Wrestling isn’t big enough for the both of them, then the NAWL certainly isn’t either.
Once the bell sounded it was every bit as chaotic and clinical as we expected. Bouncing back and forth between the ugly and ultimate display of technical wrestling. McGrath was first out the traps, his hard hitting strong style put Romero through the wringer and back again. But Romero came firing back with some head-splitting elbows. Much like last time this was a bloody and brutal affair that few men and women would be able to withstand. At the decisive moment McGrath went for a Cradle Pilerdriver but Romero flipped him over onto the canvas and quickly locked on the Arkham Asylum (Arm-Trapped Crossface Submission) in the centre of the ring. McGrath held on until he was practically unconscious. Unable to tap the mat or raise his hand the Referee stepped in to call it off, declaring Romero the winner by technical knockout.
Winner: Silas Romero
HEADLINER
INTERNET TITLE SCRAMBLE MATCH
Malachi v Summer Page v Dagon v Evie Locke v Sally Lambert v Harper Morris v Vega v Michael Hayden v Rose Spears v CADENCE
15 minute time limit. Final pinfall or submission before the timer runs out will determine the inaugural champion.
The ten entrants all made their way out to the ring one by one, suspiciously eye balling one another to determine the weak links as they entered. Once underway it was obvious that Hayden had done his homework and attacked the seemingly vulnerable Spears to get the first pin. Michael Hayden is Champion. But that reign didn’t last long when Dagon hit the Song From the Deep (Angle Slam) on Lambert from behind. Dagon is Champion. While this was going on Summer Page rolled out the ring and joined the commentary table. She had a game plan, and was not going to waste time and energy on the early minutes of this match. Nobody was going to stay champion for fifteen minutes, she said. You don’t even have to be pinned to lose and she was smart enough to know that. Instead she was going to sit tight and when the time was right re-enter the match to make the winning pin. The one that counts. She watched on from the booth as Harper Morris began to dominate, smashing Vega with a Revolution Brainbuster to secure the prize, momentarily. Harper Morris is Champion. By now though a war had broken over out over who could get to Spears, as CADENCE, Michael Hayden and Malachi began fighting for the low hanging fruit. A rejuvenated Vega took advantage of them brawling one another to hit her Lo Siento Perra (Bridging German Suplex) for a spell as interim champion. Vega is Champion. Evie Locke by this point decided everyone should get involved and stood on the apron heckling Summer Page. Page was on her feet giving it some back before Evie dived across the table at her, the crowd cheering. She removed Page's headphones and slammed them across her chops before tossing her into the ring but was met with a Superkick she calls Total Knockout, as Evie collapsed into the turnbuckle. Page began taunting the fans, but turned around to be met with a Superkick by Locke herself as both women crashed to the mat in pain. Malachi rolled under the ropes to pin Page and secure his first spell at the helm. Malachi is Champion. Once back on his feet he was met with a Play Destroy (Buzz Kick) from CADENCE. The clock was now at two minutes to spare and she was in prime position to take this home. CADENCE is Champion. She fended off an attack from Hayden, but couldn't withstand the hit from behind from Dagon, who launched her out the ring in the process. Dagon though was met with a roll up from Malachi but it wasn't enough to get the pin he needed to potentially see this through, Dagon kicking out in the nick of time. Locke and Page were on their feet again and one by one superkicked Dagon and Malachi through the ropes. Spears and Lambert were re-entering the ring now and Locke and Page made a move for each of them, respectively. It was down to the final 10 seconds and CADENCE, who was still reigning champion, was rising to her feet. Page hit the Pure Perfection (Perfect Plex) while Evie landed her Curse of Curves (Sunset Flip Powerbomb). Page hooked the leg on Lambert, as Locke pinned Spears. Five seconds remaining.. CADENCE quickly surveyed the action. She didn't have to stop them both so went for the closest and broke up Page's pinfall, leaving Evie to get the one.. two.. three! Evie jumped to her feet as the timer ran out and threw her arms in the air. The rest of the field looked on in frustration, this could have gone so many ways, but it was Locke who had the luck on her side.
Winner: Evie Locke (New Internet Champion)
PRE-MATCH
In between the two bouts we saw a quickly put together highlight reel that was played to hype the main event. Clips of Blaise defeating Caine Landry, MYOJIN, and Tapp Addams were followed by Romero's victories over Calder Rhys, Ryan Samuels and Jack McGrath, before a split screen showed them both preparing for the match inside the locker rooms.

PURE TITLE TOURNAMENT FINAL
Lily Blaise v Silas Romero
16 men and women had entered this tournament, all with the belief that they could be crowned the first ever NAWL Pure Champion, but now it was left to these two to determine who would take that crown. Romero, an obvious favourite from the get go, came face to face with the underdog Blaise as the belt was paraded behind them. Neither flinched as the bell rang and the match got underway. Lily had needed to rely on the judges decision in the Semi's, overcoming any perceived potential bias towards the talented Addams with a brilliant display. Deep down she knew it was going to be a tall order to get two decisions in one night, against household names on both occasions, at that. She set about looking for an early submission, but Romero was diligent, and seemed to know instinctively what he was walking into each time and when he managed to get the upper hand he duly made it count, forcing two rope breaks himself on the young woman. Blaise, barely even 20 years old, showed experience beyond her years though and matched the esteemed Romero for the majority of the match, albeit kicking out of several close two counts in the process. Romero kicked out of her Shattered Image (Rude Awakening) finisher once, and recovered to line up his GKFO (Ripcord Rolling Elbow) for what looked like a certified ending, but Blaise manoeuvred out the way and hit the Deglamourizer (Backstabber into a Rear Naked Choke Hold). Romero was nowhere near the and ropes and tried to break free but Blaise was holding on for dear life, both yelling out with emotion. On and on and it went until Romero could take no more, surrendering in frustration, as Blaise fell backwards on the canvas, completely spent. Her music began to play and she was hoisted to her feet by the official and handed the belt, before wearily raising it aloft. Romero threw her other arm up in the air briefly in respect before exiting the ring to give Lily her moment, as the first series of events came to a close, honing in on the first ever NAWL Pure Champion's celebrations.
Winner: Lily Blaise
